Duties and responsibilities
- Support the start-up of the shelter and WASH projects at the area level
- In close coordination with the Shelter/WASH Coordinator, ensure planning, timely implementation, monitoring and evaluation of shelter and WASH projects assigned, in line with donor requirements and NRC education strategy
- Work with the Shelter/WASH Officer and Shelter/WASH Specialist (at CO) to ensure high technical quality of projects and identify concrete opportunities for stronger CC-integration
- Contribute to planning, and ensure timely and high-quality implementation, review of technical documentation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of shelter activities in line with donor requirements and NRC shelter and WASH strategies
- Contribute to the improvement/development of procedures and tools for project follow-up
- Travel to project locations on a regular basis, for planning, coordination, and/or monitoring and evaluation purposes
- Identify suitable outreach strategies and ensure fair and dignifying access, selection, and treatment of beneficiaries.
- Ensure that project activities are documented in line with NRC compliance standards
- Ongoing liaison with support staff (logistics; finance; HR), M&E and other CCs. Assist the team in carrying out logistical arrangements connected to project activities
Qualifications
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience from working in a shelter and WASH project implementation position and 2-3 years in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Health/Engineering, Architecture or another relevant
- field. Master’s degree is an advantage
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of the humanitarian context in North East Syria
- Knowledge of building codes and standards in Syria
- Knowledge of and experience in working with relevant line ministries, and local and international NGOs is an advantage
- Advanced computer skills, Microsoft programs and AutoCAD or similar is an advantage
- Knowledge of Kurdish language is an advantage
- Willing to travel to remote areas and field locations, and flexible with working hours including
- weekends when required

We can offer
Contract period: Up to one year, renewable based on NRC fund and performance.
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions.
