Metito was the first company to introduce the reverse osmosis technology outside the USA in 1972 and the first to pioneer concession contracts with private entities, under a BOOT scheme, in the GCC region and bulk water PPP concessions in Sub Saharan Africa, outside SA, in Kigali, Rwanda. In 2018, Metito also pioneered the trend for mega seawater desalination plants in Egypt launching Al Yosr SWRO with a capacity of 80,000m3/d followed by the largest desalination plant in Egypt to date; Al Galala with a capacity of 150,000m3/d.
